A one-owner 1997 LX 450 with just over 200k miles. Seems to run great. I’ve heard these are basically bulletproof if you maintain them properly.

Talk to Hammerhead! He has a similar era Land Cruiser.
Congrats! May you drive it to another 200K miles
(and own a gas station)

I very badly want one of these. but i don’t really need another Toyota SUV.

I’ve heard the same thing, but that’s where my helpfulness on these cars ends. They are cool as hell though, and fantastically capable.

Raptors are *huge*

It's ridiculous right. They're way too big.

It’s funny cause our Sequoia is actually just a smidge wider than my Ram.

The 4runner is relatively tiny. It's comparable in size to the new Cherokee.

Yeah the Cherokee is actually longer and wider, slightly shorter in height and, depending on trim, up to 300 pounds lighter.
Though the 4Runner is body on frame, so that explains the weight.

I approve this purchase. LX450s are life.

Everything is bulletproof “if you maintain them properly.” Even a Lada’s pretty bulletproof if you follow the factory’s strict recommendation of engine oil change every 5000km (normal) and absolutely every single other fluid at 10,000km (not normal).

Do you know much about them? It needs tires, so I am considering swapping the wheels for some kind of steelies and putting in an OME lift kit, then fitting bigger/off-roadier tires.

Not really. Some cars have engines and transmissions that go bye-bye under 100k, maintenance or not. I do believe ANY car would suffer from poor maintenance practices, but not that any car can go forever with good maintenance.

I know a bit. But check the 120 website for good info on that platform. Expedition Portal is not bad either sometimes.

My dad says the biggest thing with those is they tend to leak like the Exxon Valdeez due to age. The Rear Main will always have seepage but they’re manageable if you make sure to change the seals. Otherwise, they’re tanks.

Ohh I want one of these badly. My problem is I already have two vehicles for the same purpose, I don't need a third.....

We had a first-gen LX450 when I was little. Damn nice SUV.

Oh man tell me about it - I’ve wasted so many hours on that site already.
I was going to buy an FJ60 but this one came up from a friend’s parents and it’s tough to turn down a vehicle with known and good maintenance history.
